Nuggets of Joy

Hey Y’all,

I will be kicking off my regular weekly messages which I will call Nuggets of Joy on Sunday July 7th. These will be like messages I have shared on Sundays in church as a Pastor. The only change is these messages will have a different flavour and no topic will be off limits, so feel free to email me any suggestions.

For the month of July, I want to explore the Ocean of Divine Love. As Jesus followers I am convinced we are meant to swim in this ocean, which is our filter for all our theology. Theology may seem like a complex word, but it is simply our study of God and God’s relation to the world. This is a deeply personal journey for each one of us, and we will all have various life experiences which shape our theological framework.

Too often though we just keep the study of theology isolated in our heads and disconnected from our hearts. To gain wisdom with our theological framework we are required to use both our heads and heart. The God we believe in should drive our actions and compassion to God’s creation. With that last sentence in mind, do we as Christ followers have a theology that is filtered through the Ocean of Divine Love? Do our actions and compassion towards God’s creation show this? These questions, I believe, are personal question we must ask ourselves as individuals.

Over the month of July, I want to dive into the Ocean of Divine Love and explore the effects that swimming in this ocean has on our theological framework. To do this we must first look at what it means to worship a God who is love and what scripture tells us about this love. This will give us parameters for the Ocean of Divine Love, which will lead to us exploring the implications of a God who is Omni-Loving above all else. We will then look at the example found in Jesus Christ, where God put on skin and intimately entered humanity. After this we will then look at asking ourselves a personal question about our filter for theology that drives our action or inaction. This is important for each one of us to explore as Christ followers, because we are called to be known by our love.
